Dave has been playing bass since the early age of 14. There wasn’t a ton of rock music being listened to in his household as a child, but he had friends that had older brothers and sisters that were up to their ears in it.
While at one of his friends house, he heard “Tom Sawyer“ by Rush for the very first time (with Geddy Lee on Bass) and was blown away. Along with that, he heard the first Van Halen album with the opening track of “running with the devil” with the opening intense bassline being played by Michael Anthony.
It was at that point that he knew that he wanted to be a bass player.
Later on in his teenage years, when MTV hit the airwaves, he saw the early videos of Duran Duran and heard the sounds of bassist John Taylor (and took notice that John Taylor had a fantastic look) - at that point, he was completely hooked!
He started taking bass lessons at age 14 and started playing in Garage Bands with his friends.
Eventually, that led to playing on the Cleveland music scene with all kinds of bands.
He has been on the Cleveland music scene for 30+ years playing in all different kinds of groups (ranging from top 40, classic rock, R&B, swing/ska, modern rock, and country)
In the early years of playing on the Cleveland music scene, he was able to play some of the classic nightclubs in Cleveland (Spanky’s East, Akron Agora, Cleveland Agora, Sahara Club, Fagans in the Flats, just to name a few).
He has shared the stage with the likes of Michael Stanley in a few projects, Jennifer Lee, and nearly getting a record deal with the original band Genuine Son. He also had much success with his 90s rock band Tripside and his current country band Post Road.
Dave’s role in “three day weekend” is to hold down the low end and participate in the background vocals. Also, he will sing lead on a few tunes here and there.
Also, he is very well-known for making the audience raise their drinks with him during the night!
When he is not playing music, and it is summertime, you can find him on Lake Erie (on his boat is “No Treble At All”) fishing for walleye and steelhead.
Also, cooking/documenting meals on social media, and also working on the gardens at his house.
